By using the Narrative AI platform you agree to be bound by this document and all applicable Narrative AI policies.
FirstLine Intelligence Systems, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of law enforcement personnel and agencies using the Narrative AI platform ("Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described herein.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, badge or employee ID (optional), agency name, and role/rank.
Report and Incident Data: We collect narrative text, incident details, subject and witness information, and other content you input when generating or saving reports. This data is owned by your agency and is processed solely to provide the service.
Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use the Platform, including pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser, and IP address.
Payment Information: Billing is processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: (a) provide, operate, and maintain the Platform; (b) generate AI-assisted report drafts based on your inputs; (c) authenticate your identity and manage your account; (d) process payments and manage subscriptions; (e) send transactional emails and service notifications; (f) improve the Platform through aggregated, de-identified analytics; and (g) comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your incident or report data to train AI models without explicit written consent from your agency.
3. Law Enforcement Data
We recognize that incident data, subject information, and case details are sensitive. We process such data exclusively to provide the Platform's functionality. We do not sell, share, or disclose law enforcement data to third parties except as required to operate the Platform (e.g., AI processing) or as required by law. All sub-processors handling law enforcement data are listed in our Data Processing Agreement.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information with: (a) service providers who assist in operating the Platform (OpenAI for AI processing, Supabase for database services, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email delivery), each bound by confidentiality obligations; (b) law enforcement or government authorities when required by valid legal process; (c) successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to the same privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information.
5. Data Retention
We retain account information for the duration of your subscription and for up to 90 days following termination, unless a longer retention period is required by law or requested by your agency. Report data is retained in accordance with your agency's data retention policy. You may request deletion of your personal account data at any time by contacting info@narrative-ai.org.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. CJIS Compliance Considerations
Narrative AI is designed with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy requirements in mind. Agencies with CJIS obligations should review our Law Enforcement Use Policy and contact us to execute a CJIS Security Addendum where applicable. Officers should not input CJIS-covered data beyond what is necessary for the report being generated.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@narrative-ai.org. Note that certain data may be retained by your agency and requests should also be directed to your agency administrator.
9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
